Upgrading your TI-Nspire Calculator Operating System can be completed in three ways. 

Preferred Method.  The operating system can be transferred to a calculator by using the Computer Software (Teacher Edition or Student Software). 

Second Method.  The operating system can be transferred via connected TI-Nspire calculators. 

Third Method.  The operating system can be transferred to a calculator by using Computer Link Software.

Connected TI-Nspire Calculators

 

Computer Link Software

Step 1

Ensure you are connected to the internet.

 

Step 2

Turn on your TI-Nspire calculator and connect it to your computer.

 

Step 3

Open the Computer Software (Teacher Edition or Student Software).

 

Step 4

A window is opened and an automatic upgrade of your calculator operating system and/or an upgrade of the Computer Software is available.  Continue with upgrade. 

 

 

Another Procedure 

Step 1

Ensure you are connected to the internet.

 

Step 2

Turn on your TI-Nspire calculator and connect it to your computer.

 

Step 3

Open the Computer Software (Teacher Edition or Student Software).

 

Step 4

Open the Windows tab at the top of the page.

 

Step 5

Select My Files.

 

Step 6

The bottom half of the My Files is named My Handheld (connected calculator).  Click on the down arrow which is to the right of Look in section.

 

Step 7

Select Install OS.

 

Step 1

Turn on both TI-Nspire calculators.  The sending calculator has the latest operating system.

 

Step 2

Connect both calculators with the mini USB cord.

 

Step 3

Leave the receiving calcualator on the desk.

 

Step 4

On the sending calculator, press the home keypad.

 

Step 5

Select My Documents.

 

Step 6

Press the Menu keypad.

 

Step 7

Select Send OS.

Sending Operating System Between Two TI-Nspire CAS Calculators

 

Step 1

Install Computer Link Software on your computer.  Computer Link Software can be downloaded from Texas Instruments Website (or the direct link is Computer Link Software).

 

Step 2

Save operating system to your computer.  The TI-Nspire calculator operating system can be downloaded from the Texas Instruments Website (or the direct link is TI-Nspire Operating System).

 

Step 3

Turn on your TI-Nspire calculator and connect it to your computer.  

 

Step 4

Open Computer Link Software.  If the calculator browswer does not recognise the connected calculator, you may need to refresh the connection (double green icon at the top of the page or the calculator icon at the bottom right of the page).

 

Step 5

In the top half of the screen (computer file browser), navigate to where the calculator operating system (tnc file) is saved.

 

Step 6

Click and drag tnc file to the bottom half of the screen (connected TI-Nspire file browser) and release the file.
